“I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then,” said Alice in Alice in Wonderland. That's the thing with adventures—it's not about wondering where you'll end up, but who you'll end up being.

Make Your Own Rabbit Hole is about recovering creativity—mine, yours, whoever's. The broad idea is that every creative act—no matter how big or small—allows us to rediscover some lost, unappreciated or forgotten talent, and hopefully spark some great adventure.

I’m PhD student who also teaches writing. The problem for a long time was that I wasn't doing any writing myself. So I started this blog as a first tentative step towards fixing that.

Rabbit Hole is part of my resolve to be braver in my artistic practice (and to work out exactly what my artistic practice is), and to take up Austin Kleon's advice that he gives in his book Show Your Work. That is:

“The best way to get started on the path to sharing your work is to think about what you want to learn, and make a commitment to learning in front of others.” (19)
